Letter From the President

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to The Overbrook Foundation, where it is my privilege to serve as President.

Over seven decades of grantmaking, The Overbrook Foundation has set a high standard for tackling the most pressing challenges of our time including our mission to conserve the environment, defend democracy, advance reproductive health, rights, and justice, and protect human rights defenders. As you know, this work has never been more urgent.

Since our founding in 1948 by Helen and Frank Altschul, Overbrook’s cornerstone has been to support leaders and organizations driven by innovation, expertise, and impactful programming. In the face of overwhelming threats to our planet, human rights, and democratic systems, we are grateful for the opportunity to fund heroic partners advancing change through advocacy, policy, and programs. We believe philanthropy must stand tall in this historic moment, and both the Overbrook Staff and Board of Directors are united with our grantees at the center of this fight for progress and in our defense of the planet and our Democracy.

Overbrook remains deeply committed to strengthening our partners, leading transformation across our core focus areas, and elevating bold leadership models that deliver results and grow movements. We carry Overbrook’s legacy forward with great humility and ambition, and welcome opportunities to listen and collaborate. I invite you to explore our history and active grants to better understand our priorities.

We believe philanthropy must stand tall in this historic moment, and both the Overbrook Staff and Board of Directors are united with our grantees at the center of this fight for progress and in our defense of the planet and our Democracy.

Thank you for your support, and welcome to the Overbrook community.
