Leena Chawla (she/her) joined the Overbrook Foundation as the Human Rights Program Associate in 2026. Together with partners, she works to advance reproductive health, rights, and justice, defend democracy in the U.S., and support human rights causes in Latin America.
Prior to joining Overbrook, Leena worked in fundraising at Pregnancy Justice, a legal reproductive rights nonprofit dedicated to advancing and protecting the rights of pregnant people. She has also worked at The Legal Aid Society, where she helped New Yorkers navigate housing court issues, and as an advocate at The SAFE Alliance, a domestic violence shelter based in Austin, Texas.
Leena holds a BA in Sociology and Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies from Middlebury College and is a trained full spectrum doula, supporting birthing people and their families. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
